We, travel photographers, have the best jobs. I get to spend my time with wonderful clients and their families in some of the best locations on the planet. I love capturing memories because they make the best souvenirs. Today started early. Departed Sofia at 7:30am. Arrived in the mountains at 10:00am and took a 30 min chair lift to the trail-head. Though the weather was overcast with low hanging clouds and the temperature quite chilly, the day was spectacular. Hiked 19 kilometers in 6 hours to see the Seven Rila Lakes.
Seven Rila Lakes – The lakes are located one above the other and are connected by small streams, which form tiny waterfalls and cascades. Each lake is named because of its shape or characteristics – The Tear, The Eye, The Kidney, The Twin, The Trefoil, Fish Lake, The Lower Lake.
Highlights of the day – seeing a rare flower, eating fresh picked raspberries from trail-side, relaxing on a rock after a hard climb, and the 30 min chair lift down the mountain at the end of day.
“Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers, the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters, and teach some of us more than we can ever learn from books.” – John Lubbock
